Hearts2Hearts’ ICONIC HEART debuted at No. 2 on Billboard Japan‘s weekly Top Singles Sales chart released Aug. 19 — tracking the week from Aug. 10 to 16 — with first-week sales of 65,176 copies.
Hearts2Hearts is an eight-member K-pop girl group consisting of JIWOO, CARMEN, YUHA, STELLA, JUUN, A-NA, IAN and YE-ON. The group debuted in South Korea in February 2025 and swept nine rookie awards, making them the most-awarded rookie act among K-pop artists who debuted that year. ICONIC HEART, released Aug. 12, marks the group’s milestone Japanese debut single. It was issued in six formats — a regular edition, first press limited edition A with a photobook, first press limited edition B with member profile sheets, first press limited edition C with postcards, first press limited edition D with initial beads, and a UNIVERSAL MUSIC STORE exclusive edition — each containing three tracks including “RUDE! (Japanese Ver.).” The title track “ICONIC HEART” also entered the Billboard Japan Hot 100 at No. 2 on the chart released the same day for the same tracking period, while topping the radio airplay metric — a strong start for a debut single.
Using SoundScan Japan sales data, we examined first-week sales trends for debut releases by 5th-generation K-pop girl groups that have made their Japan debut with a physical release.
According to the sales data, ICONIC HEART sold 65,176 copies in its first week, compared with 54,187 and 5,764 copies for the other two Japanese debut releases examined. This marks the highest first-week sales figure among the three releases compared, reflecting strong fan interest in Hearts2Hearts.
Beyond the group’s own appeal, their vigorous activity in Japan ahead of the release clearly paid off in building an audience before their debut even arrived — from performing “STYLE” at the Tokyo stop of the SM ENTERTAINMENT 30th anniversary world tour (SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in TOKYO, August 2025), to a release event at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza (December 2025), the early digital release of “RUDE! (Japanese Ver.)” (March 2026), and appearances on Japanese terrestrial TV (April–June 2026). Around the timing of their Japan debut, the group’s momentum and drive have been further underscored by three TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION appearances, their first appearance on THE FIRST TAKE YouTube channel, festival and TV appearances, and being named August 2026’s Monthly Artist on TikTok and Spotify’s artist support program “Buzz Tracker.”
Hearts2Hearts is also drawing global attention, having been selected for NME’s annual NME100: Essential Emerging Artists For 2026 list spotlighting rising artists from around the world, and having held solo showcases in North America. With each member bringing her own distinct charm and personality, Hearts2Hearts looks set to further establish themselves as icons of the Z-alpha generation.
