Tom Aspinall's father, Andy Aspinall, recently shared an update on the UFC heavyweight king's eye injury. Aspinall Sr. revealed that his son's vision hadn't returned to normal and that he couldn't see anything with his right eye.

Aspinall went up against Ciryl Gane in a heavyweight title fight at UFC 321 last weekend. In the opening round, Gane accidentally poked Aspinall in the eyes, which rendered the Englishman unable to continue fighting despite taking an extended breather. The fight was ultimately ruled a no-contest.

In a recent video, Aspinall Sr. revealed that his son got himself checked out earlier this week and said:

"We got an appointment yesterday morning with a friend of ours who is one of the doctors for the UFC, and he got us an appointment at Cheadle Hospital to see an eye specialist yesterday... It's bad. It's not good. His eye is a little bit more closed than it was. His right eye, he still can’t see anything. He said it’s just grey... His left eye is 50%, really blurry. So one is really blurry and one is still not working."

Sean O'Malley gets honest about Tom Aspinall's eye poke incident at UFC 321

Sean O'Malley recently shared his thoughts on the ill-fated Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane fight. The former bantamweight champion addressed the brutal eye-poke incident that cut the Aspinall-Gane fight short and reflected on his own experience dealing with the same.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, O'Malley backed Aspinall's decision not to continue fighting and said:

“I’ve been poked in the eye before. Not in a fight, but in practice, been poked in the eye. Boom! Whoa! I’m done. I’m not going to continue to practice. Obviously, you can’t see it, it’s uncomfortable, it hurts, it’s scary. You don’t know if it’s going to come back. You don’t know if you’re going to be able to see it again."

He continued:

"That really is a possibility, you get poked in the eye and you can’t see ever again, let alone now you’re trying to fight this guy who’s a massive elite athlete who’s been popping you with a freaking jab. Now you have one eye because of an illegal strike. It’s unfortunate, but you just can’t question Tom’s toughness on that."
