Shedeur Sanders' name trended on X (formerly Twitter) after the New York Giants fired Brian Daboll. Some fans believe that Daboll's firing was justified after his pre-draft interactions with Sanders.
One of those with the opinion is Pastor Erik Vance. Vance wrote,
"He single-handedly hurt Shedeur Sanders with lies and made-up stories to try to assassinate his character. The same ditch you dig for one, you might as well dig two."•

Vance's words come months after reports emerged about Daboll's negative experience with Shedeur Sanders. According to Todd McShay,

"Shedeur (Sanders) didn't have a great interview with Brian Daboll in a private visit. An installation package came in. Preparation was not there for it. (He) got called out on it. Didn't like that. Brian (Daboll) didn't appreciate him not liking it."Daboll and the New York Giants ultimately selected Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick of the 2025 draft, while Sanders dropped down to the fifth round, where the Cleveland Browns chose him. Dart has thrived with the Giants while Sanders is waiting for his NFL debut.

Kevin Stefanski gives an update on the chance of Shedeur Sanders starting
Shedeur Sanders is currently the QB2 for the 2-7 Cleveland Browns. Sanders is serving as the priority backup to fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Browns fans have called for Kevin Stefanski to give Shedeur Sanders a chance at the starting berth in the ongoing campaign. However, Stefanski seems to be taking his time.
After the Browns' Week 10 loss to the New York Jets, Stefanski was asked when Sanders could get an opportunity to start. He replied,
"I don't think it's fair to speculate. We are committed to getting better as an offense. Dillon (Gabriel) has certainly committed to improving every which way he can, and all the while, all of our players, young players are developing and working so hard behind the scenes to make sure that they are getting better on a daily basis."Stefanski's answer didn't provide a clear path for Sanders ascending to the QB1 role. However, a few more losses might spell the end of Stefanski's tenure in Cleveland.
Brian Daboll's firing is a reminder of the ruthless nature of the NFL. It'll be a surprise if Stefanski keeps his job until the end of the season without substantial improvements to his side's fortunes.
