A popular AEW star may be leaving the company very soon, according to a new report. Fans have reacted to this and believe that he could be headed to WWE once his contract expires.
Danhausen has not been seen in the promotion for almost two years. He was last seen back at Worlds End 2023 as he was featured in a Battle Royale during the pay-per-view's Zero Hour pre-show. His appearances since have been on the independent circuit, but he had a one-off segment for Ring of Honor last year.
Fightful Select has just reported that the contract of the Very Nice, Very Evil star will expire around February 2026. His original deal ended in August, and he even suggested that the company should let him go if they no longer have creative plans for him. However, injury time was added instead.

Fans have reacted to the news, and most fans believe that he will end up jumping ship to WWE. Many of them were looking forward to seeing his segments, with one claiming that he could make his NXT debut next year. One hoped that his departure would be for real this time, and not get blocked by Tony Khan once more.
Others did not have a care for this, with one not even being aware he was still with the Jacksonville-based promotion. Another mentioned how his leaving was a good thing, as it seemed like Danhausen was always going to go to WWE.
Good riddance. Just a bum on his couch begging for a WWE contract. These “pro” wrestlers make me sick
He will make his debut at NXT Vengeance Day 2026!
We are about to get some peak WWE backstage segments.
For real this time or is TK gonna screw him again?
Wait. Was he still under contract? 😅
Former AEW star says Tony Khan dropped the ball on Danhausen
Danhausen may not have been the most formidable star on the roster, but his impact with the fans cannot be denied. There was even a point where his merchandise sales rivaled several big names in the industry, and were even higher than some from WWE.
Former AEW star Joey Janela mentioned last month how he believed that the promotion dropped the ball on Danhausen. He spoke about the upsides he had, and even compared him to R-Truth.
"Biggest ball dropped by AEW. Best merch, biggest potential merch seller, most marketable, could’ve been AEWs R truth would’ve figured out a spot for him for life.." Joey wrote.Biggest ball dropped by AEW. Best merch, biggest potential merch seller, most marketable, could’ve been AEWs R truth would’ve figured out a spot for him for life..
With this in mind, he would be a great pickup by WWE, as his gimmick, along with his appeal to the fans, could get him over. He could end up thriving more under the Stamford-based promotion.
