Kyrie Irving's teammates were thankful for the gift he had prepared for the holidays. Irving is in the second year of his three-year, $118.4 million contract with the Mavericks. This season, he's earning $36.5 million, which is how he was able to buy a luxurious present for the team.

Kyrie Irving has acted like a coach for the Mavericks

Kyrie Irving is rehabbing from a torn ACL and has not suited up for the Mavericks in the 2025-26 NBA season. According to a recent update from insider Grant Afseth, there's a chance for Irving to be back in action before the All-Star break. However, Afseth said that there is no guarantee that the nine-time All-Star will suit up before the first half of the season ends.

As he continues to recover from the injury he sustained last season, Irving has served as a leader from the bench. According to Anthony Davis, the veteran guard has acted like a coach for him and the team.

"Having him as a ‘coach’ now, he constantly texts me about stuff he sees when we on the road, here, he’s talking to me on the bench… He’s really helping out Ryan (Nembhard) as a point guard," AD said of Kyrie Irving. "We lean on each other, and I think he’s been a big advocate for all us players to continue to be better…We all love it,"

Irving has also served as a personal mentor and coach for rookie forward Cooper Flagg. Sam Amico of HoopsWire said that the first-year player has benefited from having the veteran guide him in the NBA.
