“He’s more interested in high-fiving people than actually doing his job” - Paul Parker slams Manchester United star

Pundit Paul Parker has hit out at Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot for his disappointing performances for the club. The Portugal international has been a regular for Ruben Amorim's side, featuring in most of the club's games since the arrival of the Portuguese tactician.

In a chat with Metro, Parker called out Dalot for his error-strewn showings for the Red Devils, stating that he cannot be trusted. He argued that the defender's penchant for celebrating defensive actions during the game is unjustified and may cost the team even more.

"Dalot’s making far too many mistakes, unnecessary mistakes. He’s more interested in high-fiving people when he makes a tackle than actually doing his job properly. So, high-fives don’t win you games of football. By the time you’ve done your high-five, they could have actually bounced off of your great tackle and gone and scored a goal. So, high-five at half-time or after the game. So, no, you can’t trust Dalot there. You’re not getting enough quality in the final third from him as well. He doesn’t do enough defensively. He switches off too much, his clearances are poor, very poor, that’s one reason", he said.

Diogo Dalot has shown himself to be a passionate player, often celebrating tackles and blocks as though he scored a goal. He has been at Manchester United since 2018, making him one of the club's longest-serving players from among those on its roster, at present.

Amorim has trusted Dalot to start in 39 of his 55 games in charge of the Red Devils, with the defender only second to Bruno Fernandes for minutes played under Amorim. The 26-year-old has featured at right wing-back and left wing-back, with his versatility keeping him at the forefront of his compatriot's tactical setup.

Manchester United star in line for senior national team debut

Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens is in line to make his senior debut for Belgium in this month's internationals. The 23-year-old was one of the goalkeepers named in the Red Devils' squad to face Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein in their final qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this month.

Belgium coach Rudi Garcia invited first-choice Thibaut Courtois, Maarten Vandevoordt, and Matz Sels for the games, as well, but Courtois has left their camp due to injury. The Real Madrid star suffered an adductor problem in his club's draw against Rayo Vallecano, and has returned to Spain for treatment.

Lammens has represented Belgium up to U-21 level and could play in either of their games this month. The former Royal Antwerp man has been a revelation at Old Trafford, as he has yet to taste defeat in five games with Manchester United this season.
