Manchester City fans are slamming Savinho after their goalless draw in the Premier League at Sunderland. Many believe that the winger was the key reason why they failed to score in the game.

Pep Guardiola's side slipped up in the Premier League title after failing to become the first team to beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this season. The match also became the first goalless draw for the Cityzens in the 2025/26 season.

Manchester City fans were furious with Savinho for his performance, calling for the winger to be sold soon. Many believe that the arrival of Antoine Semenyo should signal the end of the Brazilian's time at the club and posted:

Savinho needs to leave TODAY!!!!

Sell Savinho… it’s painful at this point

I deadass hope that’s the last time I have to see Savinho play for City

Savinho is absolutely shite 🤦🏼‍♂️

SAVINHO what an absolute piece of garbage he must never play for city ever again holy crap what a garbage player

Guardiola spoke about their result and said that he was happy to take a point and said:

"Good! We take the point. Second-half was excellent. We cannot score in the six-yard box, how many times in the six-yard box against the keeper or another and could not convert. Of course, the threat they have is really good. But really pleased with the performance, especially second-half..."

When quizzed why they failed to score in the game, he added:

"That's the mystery! I don't have an answer for your question... We created a lot against THAT team, in THIS stadium - especially second-half. First-half we struggled simply because we struggled against their pressing, but Rodri gave us the extra pass, the composure to break the line and after we could run. Second-half was much, much better..."

Manchester City are now four points behind the league leaders, Arsenal, who beat Aston Villa 4-1 on December 30, 2025.

Pep Guardiola happy with Manchester City getting a point

Pep Guardiola said that Manchester City did better in the second half, but the players should beat themselves about the result. He added that they need to refocus quickly and said:

"Tough place to come. The amount of chances we missed in the six-yard box, not difficult ones, we couldn't convert. We didn't do what we talked about in the first half but in general it was a really good game. It was better second half, the guys did everything. They're a bit heads down but we have to be heads up because in three days we have a difficult game against Chelsea." "We created enough chances, played good second half. The commitment, desire, first half was different. We created enough - two chances from Savinho in the second half, Jeremy [Doku], Josko [Gvardiol], Phil [Foden] and Erling [Haaland]. We had a lot but unfortunately could not do it..."

Manchester City face Chelsea, who parted ways with Enzo Maresca on New Year's Day, on Sunday, January 4.
