A former WWE star had to overcome several hardships since arriving in AEW. Former NXT Champion Adam Cole was one of the top WWE stars. He main evented evented many TakeOvers and was deemed as the future on the main roster. However, instead of going to RAW or SmackDown, he chose to become All Elite.
Adam Cole has been a top star in the Jacksonville-based promotion, too, but his run hasn't been easy to watch. The Panama City Playboy has been sidelined multiple times throughout his stint due to many injuries. He is currently inactive due to concussion issues he faced in July 2025.
A user on social media recently discussed how the former TNT Champion's career would have been different if he hadn't exited WWE.
Fans think Adam Cole could have been better off at the global sports entertainment juggernaut rather than joining AEW. Many believe he could have retired John Cena if he were still part of the company.
Take a look at some of the reactions below:
@JobberNationTV To be honest, he ruined himself. He chose emotions and friendships over professionalism and stardom.
@JobberNationTV He might be the one who retired Cena if he stayed
@JobberNationTV He chose this. Just keep that in mind. Sometimes the grass isn’t greener just because your friends are there.
@JobberNationTV Vince had the perfect vision for him. He woulda been 2x wwe champ by now
@JobberNationTV Poor Cole, all of this because he chose to be happy and enjoy wrestling and his life with friends and family. Such a shame
@JobberNationTV He asked for aew and he lost everything in aew lol
AEW President Tony Khan hints that Adam Cole might not wrestle again
At All In: Texas, the Panama City Playboy vacated his TNT Championship due to a concussion. It was also reported that he was about to announce his retirement on the show.
While speaking on the Aerial Helwani Show, Tony Khan said Adam Cole could enter the squared circle if he wants to and if it's safe for him, indirectly implying uncertainty.
"He’s a great talent, he could be involved in a lot of things, and if he ever did want to wrestle again, and it was the right situation and everyone could wrap their heads around it, so to speak, I think that it could make a lot of sense. But, anything involving head injuries or serious injuries, I always want to look at it and evaluate, "Does this make sense?", and is there an opportunity to do this safely where it’s gonna be a good outcome for everybody," he said.It remains to be seen when Cole will make his next AEW appearance.
