Over the past few days, the rumor mill has been churning about Lane Kiffin leaving Oxford to take over as the new head coach of the Florida Gators. They fired Billy Napier last month after a disappointing 3-4 start to the season.
On Saturday, Lane Kiffin helped the Ole Miss Rebels secure a 34-24 comeback victory over a Gators team led by interim coach Billy Gonzales. In the post-game press conference, he was questioned about his future with the team. Kiffin gave a cryptic answer to his question amid the Florida rumors.
"I love what we're doing here. Today was awesome. To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and what they did today. We've got a lot of things going on right now and we're doing really well," Kiffin said per On3.•

Fans on social media shared their reaction to the Ole Miss coach's cryptic response.
"He just said he's leaving without saying it," one fan commented.@On3sports He just said he’s leaving without saying it
@On3sports Oh he gone then
@On3sports He’s really going to Gainesville
All lane has to do is say I’m not leaving and he can’t
Coaches gotta stop acting like people are dumb. It's disrespectful. Just say you're leaving.
Lane is gone Why try and misdirect when you could easily just say this is dumb I’m not talking about it or I’m staying put drop it. We saw with Deboar even with a deep CFP run & good resources you can still ride for a better perceived opportunities I feel bad for Ole Miss here
This season, Lane Kiffin has helped the Rebels to a 10-1 campaign following Saturday's victory. They also have a four-game winning streak under their belt.
Josh Pate believes that Lane Kiffin and other CFB coaches might end up taking opportunities in the NFL
Analyst Josh Pate believes that Lane Kiffin might end up leaving collegiate coaching altogether for an opportunity in the NFL. The Ole Miss coach was one of Joel Klatt's top-five coaches to take over as the New York Giants coach after Brian Daboll's firing.
On last Wednesday's episode of "The Colin Cowherd" show, Pate said that college coaches always look for opportunities in the NFL.
"Yeah, I think he is (considering the NFL)," Pate said (Timestamp-29:35). "I think that several of them are. I think there's some names considering the NFL that would totally and completely put jaws on the ground if the names ever got public. I think these guys are always considering the NFL. "Now, you'd never get the truth out of most of them, but yeah."The Rebels have a bye week after which they will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Nov. 28. Will the Rebels qualify for the 12-team playoffs this season?
