Skip Bayless lauded Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones after he acquired defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets. The Cowboys had a busy trade deadline, completing two moves to boost their defense.

First, they added linebacker Logan Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals before bringing one of the best interior players in the league, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. A clip of "The Arena: Gridiron" show shared on X on Friday shows Skip Bayless commending Jerry Jones for turning the Micah Parsons trade into Williams, saying the Cowboys won the trade deadline.

"No doubt (the Williams trade means the Cowboys won the Parsons deal)," Bayless said. "And Jerry Jones is the easiest, biggest target in all sports. I don't think anybody gets criticized more than Jerry Jones does, a lot of times by me. He deserves his flowers, because I believe we're going to get into this, but I think he won the trade deadline.

"Because if you told me a year ago after I had to sit through another year of Micah Parsons disappearing in games, if you told me a year ago I could have Quinnen Williams for Micah Parsons, I would have been tempted to say, ‘Okay, I'll close my eyes and do it.’

He added:

"Obviously, Quinnen is not an edge rusher. He can't wreck games quite as easily and effectively as an edge rusher can, but in this case, he's got 40 sacks in his career, and if anybody can wreck a game coming up the middle, it's Quinnen Williams…”

Williams joined a struggling defense that ranks 30th in the league in passing yards allowed per game (254.4). They have had issues against the run for years now, but Williams could be the key to improving in that department.

Quinnen Williams says he's a different player than Micah Parsons

Inevitably, Quinnen Williams was compared to Micah Parsons or asked if he would fill the pass rusher's spot on the defense. He made it clear he is a different player, but hopes to make an impact however he can.

"It's pretty cool man," Williams said of those expectations. "Micah Parsons is a phenomenal player. He can do things where I can't dream about doing, especially [when] it comes down to rushing the passer. We're totally different players, man, in that aspect. I'm more interior presence, interior push, physical, strong and a good interior pass rusher."

The Cowboys' expectations elevated after their busy trade deadline.
