Colorado’s Deion Sanders shares weird answer to question on Jordan Seaton’s future after 29-22 loss to WVU

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders admitted he was talking out of his head while discussing Jordan Seaton and whether he’d be playing during the team’s final three games with reporters following a 29-22 loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers.

CU has the Arizona State Sun Devils in their home finale at Folsom Field in two weeks and a trip to the “Little Apple” to battle the Kansas State Wildcats in Week 14.

Coach Prime initially said that Seaton would likely be back after Colorado’s upcoming bye in Week 12. Sanders claimed the injury didn’t “deserve” to shut the left tackle down for the rest of the season, but didn’t stick with that statement.

That he went back on it in the same breath might’ve been a live-time show of regret. Seaton didn’t suit up in Morgantown, rocking a walking boot on the sidelines in street clothes. He, like any other player, can pursue a greater payday in the transfer portal.

Coach Prime can’t lose a pillar like Seaton. Not with Julian Lewis finally running the offense. If both could be in the lineup, there’s a greater chance the offense can thrive. Lewis did spectacularly without Seaton on Saturday, throwing for 299 yards, with two of the 22 completions being in the end zone.

Omarion Miller and Joseph Williams, two potential long-term weapons for the Buffs’ offense under Lewis, caught touchdown tosses. If there's a future in Boulder for this current core, there’s chemistry between Lewis and the receiving corps' top two producers.

This isn’t the Shedeur Sanders-Travis Hunter era. Recruits see what CU is. It’s not built to win sustainably in the Big 12. Not with high-spenders like the Texas Tech Red Raiders and BYU Cougars lording over the land.

Coach Prime can’t run recruits out of town like he did Cormani McClain. Certainly not Seaton and Lewis.
