Jonathan ‘The General’ Haggerty, like many, find it increasingly unfathomable how six-foot-four-inch tall Muay Thai fighter Nabil Anane continues to make weight for his fights.

Anane currently competes at bantamweight and is the reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion. Not too long ago, he was also a mainstay at flyweight, and when asked if he could go back to that weight class, Anane remains confident that he can.

Haggerty recently caught up with Bangkok Post’s Nick Atkin and says Anane is such an enigma. And he doesn’t see the need for the Algerian-Thai phenom to move to featherweight anytime soon.

‘The General’ said:

“I mean, listen, any weight category he goes in, he's going to have a height advantage, a reach advantage, so it doesn't really matter. But I can see why people say it, but obviously he makes the weight, so there's—he doesn't fail anything. He doesn't miss weight, so why does he need to move up?”

Haggerty is currently recovering from a torn rotator cuff. He was scheduled to face Anane for the Muay Thai gold last month before he fell to injury. It remains to be seen when that fight will be rescheduled, although both parties remain interested.

Jonathan Haggerty offers more praise for Nabil Anane

For Jonathan ‘The General’ Haggerty, Nabil Anane is more than just his freakish size and length. The British superstar believes Anane has the skill to back up his God-given physical gifts.

He told Nick Atkin:

“I think yeah, he's just come on leaps and bounds, so to speak. Yeah, 100 percent. I've seen it. Obviously, I feel like he's grown into his body a lot better. He's grown into the weight category. Yeah, he's definitely improved, hence why he's been beating all these top fighters. So yeah, we're ready to get on top.”
