The heated exchange between Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and coach Steve Kerr continues to reverberate. A few minutes into the third quarter on Monday against the Orlando Magic, the two argued on the bench in front of the entire team. Green eventually left the floor to cool off before returning in the fourth frame to watch the Dubs’ 120-97 win.
Former NBA player Kenyon Martin, via the “Gil’s Arena Show,” reacted to the viral incident:
“It’s about growing up and maturing at some point. His age is 35. He’s a grown man. The way he just behaved is like my 7-year-old. He didn’t hear some s**t he wanted to hear so he went to his f**** room."•

The Green-Kerr incident wasn’t the first time the two had clashed. In 2016, ESPN reported that they also butted heads in the locker room after a game against the OKC Thunder. This interaction, however, was the first time the public had seen both in a heated argument.
The war of words happened after Steve Kerr repeatedly asked Draymond Green to stop complaining to the referees. Kerr wanted the forward to concentrate on the game and let him do the talking. Green, who did not like the reprimand, stormed off the floor. The former All-Star returned wearing street clothes to support his teammates from the bench in the fourth quarter.
The tense moment seemed to light a fire on the Warriors, who outscored the Magic 61-40 in the second half.
Martin, who had a beef with Green on social media, could not resist criticizing the Dubs’ defensive lynchpin.
Kenyon Martin rips Draymond Green for lack of “discipline”
Nick Young, one of the co-hosts of the show, defended Draymond Green’s action. Young, a former teammate of Green, said what Green did was the “mature thing to do.”
Keyon Martin became more agitated with that response and reacted:
“It’s shut the f**k up moment! Why do you think (assistant coach) Stackhouse and the other coaches were like, ‘Dude, dude, dude.’ … Why not have the discipline to sit there?”Martin added that he understood the heated argument because he also played for a coach with whom he didn’t get along. Still, he could not believe Green would hit that “level” after the success he had had with Steve Kerr.
Draymond Green blasted Martin in late November for calling him a “fake tough guy.” Green, though, has not responded to the former New Jersey Nets star’s latest shot at him.
