'He always gets up': George Kittle's wife Claire shares heartbreaking reaction to his torn achilles

George Kittle's wife, Claire, had a heartbreaking reaction to the gruesome injury he suffered during the Niners' wild-card weekend win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 32-year-old San Francisco 49ers tight end tore his achilles and has now joined the growing list of injured teammates, including Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, and Brandon Aiyuk. While the Niners have turned their focus to the divisional round, Kittle is out for the foreseeable future and faces a long road to recovery.

On Tuesday night, his wife, Claire, finally opened up about the shocking moment in a post shared to Instagram

"Disbelief and stillness were all I felt as I yelled, get up, get up, over and over again. He always gets up. He’s George — he can do all things. He just does it," Claire wrote. "It hurts. There’s no preparing for it. I love this man with everything I have in me. He is a unicorn in this world, and he will be back stronger and better than ever before."

She continued, "The mind of a heartbroken athlete is a determined one. He is unf---withable, as is this entire team. I’m proud of these guys and the rally-together grit they fight with each week. It’s a special year, you can feel that and we’re not done yet."

The NFL WAG closed out her message by thanking 49ers fans for loving her husband.

Claire included a carousel of images recapping the day of his injury in her post.

One photo showed her posing happily on the sidelines with other 49ers WAGs, including Christian McAffrey's wife, Olivia Culpo, and Kyle Juszczyk's wife, Kristin Juszczyk, before the injury.

Clearly unaware of what the game would hold for George, another photo showed Claire standing over shirtless George's bedside after the injury.

Claire's post didn't go unnoticed, as George quickly responded in the comments section.

"You're the best teammate for this journey  ❤️," he wrote.

George's teammate, Kyle Juszcyk, also left a supportive comment, writing, "Nothing will stop my guy from coming back."

49ers fans react to George Kittle's injury

Claire isn't the only one who was emotional when George - who many feel is the heartbeat of the 49ers team - went down.

Other fans left heartwarming comments on the post, including one who wrote, "For sure cried a little. we love you kittles! #85."

"George is one of the most respected players out there in the NFL and I know those guys are playing fiercely and relentlessly in his honor," a second said.

"Not me crying at the restaurant I'm in reading this! We love you George Kittle ❤️ 💛 the boys are winning this for you sir," a third added.

"This literally has me all teary-eyed 🥹 Heartbroken for y'all 💔 Praying for a successful surgery & a healthy & speedy recovery 🙏🏼 For 85!!! ❤️💛," another said.

George also shared a message following his injury.

In the Jan. 14 post shared to Instagram, he wrote, "Football sucks sometimes. But I love it. I love these guys and this team."

He continued, "Heartbroken but have felt so much love and support from everyone reaching out. I’ll be good. Thank you. We aren’t done yet! Also when your team owner is the first person to meet you in the locker room, you know you’re in a special place. Cheers, all my love."

In April 2025, the Niners' tight end inked a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension that will keep him in the Bay area through the 2029 season.

He could now be out for a large portion of, if not all, of the 2026 NFL season.
