Haunting images of missing girl Melodee Buzzard — as mom wore disguise during fateful roadtrip

Haunting new photos show the last known images of a missing California girl who hasn’t been seen for a year – and she was spotted just last month with her mother, who appeared to have disguised her with a wig.

Melodee Buzzard, 9, was spotted on Oct. 7 in security footage from a Santa Barbara car rental outlet with her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, and both appeared to have wigs on their heads.

The images were released Monday by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, which said the pair then embarked on a road trip from California to Nebraska.

But the next day their car was clocked on the road with New York plates, and when it was returned on Oct. 10 in California the original plates had been returned.

Melodee, however, was not with her.

The girl was last seen in security footage on Oct. 9 during the return trip from Nebraska.

Melodee was officially reported missing just last month, but family said she hasn’t been seen for over a year.
