Twitch streamer Hasan "HasanAbi" Piker recently touched on not being nominated for the Streamer Awards 2025. For context, out of the 35 total Streamer Awards categories, which include "Best Just Chatting Streamer," "League of Their Own," and more, Piker was nominated for none. Other political commentators like Asmongold and Destiny were not on the list as well.
In a stream on November 16, 2025, HasanAbi expressed sadness about not being on the nominations list after a viewer in his chatbox mentioned the awards:
"('No Streamer Awards,' said a viewer) No, I'm [sad]. I mean... we weren't gonna win anything, let's be real."Then, after another viewer mentioned that having no nominations is nothing to be worried about, Piker concurred:
"('No nominations who cares lol,' said a viewer) Yeah, I know."Piker touched on how the controversies he faced in 2025, from getting banned on Twitch for the "improper handling of terrorist propaganda," to the more recent accusations of him shocking his dog, Kaya, with a shock collar, made the year "tumultuous":
"It's funny... 'cuz this has been a relatively tumultuous year, but it's also been probably the most effective in my career... I have found myself growing further and further away from the Twitch audience, or not the Twitch audience necessarily, but just like, Twitch streaming and the audiences on Twitch, and I feel like I've been the most impactful I've been in my career."HasanAbi used adjectives like "most effective" and "most impactful" to characterize his 2025 Twitch performance. Based on a review of his streaming metrics, he has welcomed over 150,000 new followers onto his platform, and his average viewership went from 27,000 in 2024 to 33,000 as of November 2025.
Currently, Piker is the 13th most subscribed Twitch streamer, with about 41,300 active subs.
HasanAbi speaks on xQc being nominated for "Best Just Chatting Streamer"
The streamer elaborated on how his mainstream media presence has caused his industry contemporaries to dislike him:
"The more mainstream recognition I receive, as a political commentator, the more angry and resentful other political commentary-adjacent people get."Recently, during the 2025 New York Mayoral debate, candidate Andrew Cuomo criticized Zohran Mamdani's association with HasanAbi, specifically because of the latter's 2019 comments on the 9/11 tragedy, where he claimed that "America deserved 9/11."
Piker then mentioned Felix "xQc," categorizing him as a political commentator, and wondering why he was nominated for the "Best Just Chatting Streamer" category:
"('No one got nominated who does political content,' said a viewer) Except xQc, who literally livestreamed with the President. I guess he's not considered a political streamer because he's xQc."HasanAbi also mentioned AT&T, which sponsors the Streamer Awards, suggesting that the telecommunications company has an issue with him:
"I don't think AT&T has an issue with xQc in the same way that they have an issue with me... AT&T literally blacklisted me, AT&T likes xQc."In other news, HasanAbi addressed claims that he was spreading Chinese propaganda.
