Just like Bollywood celebrities, Indian cricketers rang in the New Year 2026 by sharing heartwarming social media posts and wishing their fans. With no cricketing action underway, both men and women’s cricketers made the most of the New Year by spending quality time with their loved ones after a year where the men’s and women’s teams won the ICC Champions Trophy and maiden Women’s World Cup, respectively.
The players will look to make the most of their time to relax and recharge their batteries ahead of a packed calendar year, including the men’s and women’s T20 World Cups scheduled in February and June-July, respectively. On that note, let’s take a look at the Top 5 posts from cricketers on New Year’s Day:
Virat Kohli
Former India captain Virat Kohli shared an adorable picture with his better half, Anushka Sharma, as the couple shared beautiful moments on New Year’s Eve. To make the moment worth remembering, the couple painted half of their faces like Spiderman and a butterfly.
Kohli looked dapper in a grey T-shirt and cream-colored pants. The 37-year-old wore a luxurious watch to complete his look. Meanwhile, Anushka opted for a white shirt and blue jeans. The Instagram post showed the couple donning a wide smile in the photo, with the caption:
“Stepping into 2026 with the light of my life ❤️😇 @anushkasharma.”Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma, who led India to the 2025 Champions Trophy, shared a rewind clip from the last year. The clip showed Rohit celebrating the year with family, including wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira, and friends.
The 38-year-old also shared the trophy-lifting moment from the Champions Trophy, when the Men in Blue ended their trophy drought in the tournament after 12 years. He also shared his fitness journey and his comeback century against Australia in the ODI series.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Rohit captioned the post:
“2025/ Moments / Rewind.”MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi Dhoni, shared the much-awaited post for Thala fans. The World Cup-winning captain was seen celebrating the New Year with Sakshi and daughter Ziva in Phuket, Thailand. In the post, the cricketer wore a black shirt, and the couple opted for a golden hat with a picturesque background. Sharing the post on Instagram, Sakshi wrote:
“Happy New Year to all !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”Notably, Dhoni enjoys quality time with family in his hometown (in Ranchi), barring the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he stays away for around 3.5 months, including a one-month camp in Chennai to prepare for the T20 tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav
Like Rohit Sharma, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav also shared a recap post from 2025. In the clip, Yadav showed his rehab journey after undergoing sports hernia surgery in mid-2025.
The 35-year-old also shared moments from his stint with the Mumbai Indians (MI) as IPL remained the only tournament in which he thrived with the bat in 2025. He also shared snippets from his sister’s wedding and quality time with his wife, Devisha Shetty. He captioned the Instagram clip:
“Happy 2026, Everyone.”As a skipper, Suryakumar Yadav won all T20I series in 2025 and the Asia Cup. The right-handed batter will now look to deliver with the bat in the T20I series against New Zealand and the 2026 T20 World Cup. He finished 2025 without a single half-century.
Jasprit Bumrah
The World No.1-ranked Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah shared adorable pictures with his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, and his other family members. The cricketer looked dapper as he wore a white shirt, while Sanjana was draped in black as they welcomed the New Year by partying together. Take a look:
Bumrah will next be seen in action in the white-ball series against New Zealand. The 32-year-old remains crucial to India’s chances of defending the 2026 T20 World Cup at home.
