My parents bought their first house in 1990 for a little over $100,000. They were dual-income, with two dogs and one cat, and yours truly on the way. Do you know what the average home price is right now, according to Google?

$418,000. That's the median home price.

Now, to be fair, the average salary in 1990 was around $31,000, and the average salary now is around $80,000. But if you do the math, the price of buying a house has more than quadrupled, and salaries have only a little more than doubled. How is any average person supposed to be able to afford that?

I know you probably didn't come here to hear me ramble on about the cost of housing, so let's get back to the cats!

This guy really is a stunner, isn't he? Tabbies are severely underrated in the cat world. Everyone goes on and on about how gorgeous Siamese cats or Maine coon kitties are, and they're not wrong, but you just can't go wrong with a tabby. They're sweet, chill, and always down for a good cuddle session!

Now, tomcats can be a bit rough around the edges. After living a whole life outside and fighting for basic resources like food and water, they can have difficulty adjusting to indoor life. But, like with any process with cats, it's impurrtant to take it slow and go at the cat's pace. No need to rush purrfection!

We rescued a tomcat when I was a kid, and he was a tabby quite like the cat above! We kept him separated from our other pets for a few weeks to help him adjust. He would yowl sometimes, because he was probably scared, a little confused, and lonely. So, I would go and sit with him and let him come to me. After a few minutes, he would be purring on my lap, quiet and as peaceful as could be. I loved those bonding moments with him. Slowly, we introduced him to our other animals one by one, and he didn't get along with all of them immediately, but he adjusted fully by the end of a few months and would sleep on my bed at night.

Felix was a great cat!
