Hailey Bieber Sells Rhode to e.l.f. Beauty for $1 Billion
Hailey Bieber is getting up close and personal with her skin.
Indeed, the Rhode Beauty founder offered another look at her struggles with chronic acne, including how she tamed her latest perioral dermatitis flare up.
In her July 17 Instagram Stories, the 28-year-old posted a photo of an inflamed patch of skin around her lower cheek area. Hailey then noted her perioral dermatitis—a condition that appears in the form of a rash, per The American Academy of Dermatology Association—tends to rise when she’s “traveling a lot, sleep deprived, hormones, the wrong SPF, new products and stress.”
Since she’s dealt with this skin condition for over a decade, Hailey is well-versed in how to treat it. Indeed, she shared the light routine she uses to calm her flare ups—and fittingly, it consists of gentle acids and topical creams that targets inflammation.
“So minimal,” she began. “Rinse my face with water, prescription Azelaic, Hypochlorous acid, Clindamycin, glazing milk.”
This isn’t the first time Hailey—who shares son Jack Blues, 9 months, with husband Justin Bieber—has been open about her perioral dermatitis, as she had a similar flare up last March. And nearly a month later, she detailed her journey in finding products that work for her skin but still give her a neat glow.

“I’ve found more of a balance in how I treat my skin for the various phases and stages it’s going through,” she explained on Dear Media’s Breaking Beauty podcast at the time. “It doesn’t take a lot to have a great outfit, and it doesn’t take a lot to have great skincare.”
In fact, this “less is more” approach has influenced the majority, if not all, of her Rhode product launches so far.
“I don’t think you’ll ever see me making very serious makeup palettes, artistry pens or anything like that because it just doesn’t feel right for me,” she continued. “I’m always going to create products that I feel are genuinely authentic to my life, my lifestyle and what I really enjoy.”
