Guardians get bad injury news on Angel Martinez, Chase DeLauter

The Cleveland Guardians are in the middle of an AL Central race that's heating up.

The Chicago White Sox are legit, and the Detroit Tigers just got Tarik Skubal back.

It's not a great time for injuries.

On Saturday, though, the Guardians had both Angel Martinez and Chase DeLauter exit early due to injuries.

Angel Martinez injury update

Martinez left Saturday's game with a left foot contusion.

X-rays were negative, according to The Athletic's Zack Meisel.

Chase DeLauter injury update

DeLauter has a right ribcage contusion.

He got hurt crashing into the outfield wall in the first inning of the game.

DeLauter actually stayed in and got a hit but was clearly in some pain and exited after his base knock.

This all happened on the same day an umpire left early with an illness, so the vibes weren't great.
