The New York Yankees have been linked with several high-profile names this offseason after their disappointing playoff exit in the division series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

However, the team re-signed former New York Mets pitcher Paul Blackburn on a one-year, $2 million contract, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post on Saturday. Blackburn had spent the second half of the 2025 season with the Yankees after the Mets released him.

Fans reacted to the Yankees re-signing the former Mets reliever this offseason.

Blackburn made eight appearances in relief for the Yankees last season since joining the team in August, posting a 5.28 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 16 strikeouts and issuing four walks over 15.1 innings.

The move comes in the wake of the Yankees letting closers Devin Williams and Luke Weaver join the Mets in free agency.
