Golf insider Kyle Porter shared a delayed take on Rory McIlroy’s Masters Tournament win at the Augusta National. The Northern Irishman won the Masters Tournament back in April to complete his grand slam. Porter shared his thoughts on McIlroy's win.

Porter took to X on October 29 and stated that he was conducting a Masters research on that day. He further noted that he kept looking at the scorecard, which showed McIlroy's upper hand over Justin Rose with eight holes to go in the last round. He said:

After the Masters win, Rory McIlroy shared that he battled himself for the Masters win, as he dreamt about that moment. He said, via Golfweek:

“My battle today was with myself…It was a struggle but I got it over the line. I have dreamt about that moment for as long as I can remember.”

In 2025, Rory McIlroy also helped his European Ryder Cup squad to win the international team event, the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. The Europeans won 15-13 against the Americans.

How did Rory McIlroy perform at 2025 Masters Tournament?

Rory McIlroy won the Masters Tournament by defeating Justin Rose in a playoff. He scored 11-under in total after the four rounds. He shot 72 in the opening round of the tournament with three birdies on the front nine and one on the back nine.

McIlroy followed that with 66 in the second round of the event with four birdies and one eagle on hole 13. The third and fourth rounds saw 66 and 73 after shooting four birdies, along with two eagles, and six birdies, respectively. McIlroy earned $4.2 million along with 750 FedEx points.

Apart from the win at the Masters Tournament, McIlroy had three other individual wins in the 2025 season. Those came at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where McIlroy defeated fellow Irishman Shane Lowry with a two-shot lead. McIlroy scored 21-under and banked $3.6 million along with 700 FedEx points.

McIlroy also won the PLAYERS Championship, where the Northern Irishman won with 12-under at the TPC Sawgrass. The 5-time major winner defeated J. J. Spaun in a playoff to win the tournament and banked $4.5 million along with 750 FedEx points.

Rory McIlroy also won one event on the DP World Tour, and his victory came at the Amgen Irish Open with a total score of 17-under. McIlroy defeated Joakim Lagergren in a playoff to win at the K Club.
