Gleyber Torres trade noise should be of interest to New York Yankees

Around Major League Baseball, there are a few players the New York Yankees should be keeping tabs on. In fact, the Yankees have multiple needs, so anybody who can come in and make an impact, especially offensively, should be at the top of their priority list.

Even if the Yankees don't want to make offers right now, they should at least be keeping tabs on certain guys, and one of them should be former second baseman Gleyber Torres. It was recently noted that Torres could be traded, and as crazy as it might sound, I think the Yankees could benefit from landing him.

“Torres is a three-time All-Star and has been great when on the field for the Detroit Tigers. He is batting .280 with four homers. If there's a team looking for a right-handed bat, Torres could easily help,” Patrick McAvoy wrote.

The last part is the most important one here. The Yankees continue to be in search of offensive help, and they already know what Torres can bring.

I get that his time in New York didn't exactly go as planned toward the back end of his career, but this is still a three-time All-Star and a guy who has proved he can swing the bat at a very high level.

But with some of the struggles we've seen from Ryan McMahon offensively this year, as well as Anthony Volpe, I'd feel much more confident with Torres back on the roster than giving those guys at-bats in pressure moments come October.
