Gilgeous-Alexander declines to make a case for potential back-to-back MVP award

The defending champion, the Oklahoma City Thunder, defeated the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons in a slim 114-110 overtime win to become the first team in the NBA this season to win 60 games.

Although the Pistons were without their leader, Cade Cunningham, who suffered a serious lung injury on March 17, it was telling that the Thunder had their head man in charge, the reigning MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who went off for 47 points on 63 percent shooting from the field.

Not only did a performance like this extend the guard's ongoing 136-game streak of scoring 20 points or more, but it also gave him a reasonable argument in his case for another MVP.

However, after the victory, SGA made it very clear that he is not giving unnecessary attention to the award race in his post-game press conference.

SGA makes it clear that he is all business

After being asked about what he thinks about the discussions around the league about who should be this year's MVP, the NBA champion was also asked if he had anything to say to make a case for himself to be the 2025-26 NBA MVP, to which his response should not be seen as a surprise to anyone.

"Nah, I'm good... I let my game do the talking," Gilgeous-Alexander stated.

While this may come off as an arrogant answer, considering who it is coming from, the three-time all-star still makes a great case for himself with that answer, as he continues to find ways to score and impact the game at a high level, whether that is getting his teammates involved with his playmaking ability or taking over the game in the clutch moments of games against some of the best teams in the league.
