Giants trade rumor could lead to draft-day deal with Chiefs, Bears or 49ers

The New York Giants could look to cut ties with one of their defensive lineman in the near future, and it isn't Dexter Lawrence.

Pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has been involved in trade rumors all offseason, as the Oregon product had an injury-riddled 2025 campaign and seems like the odd man out in New York's edge rusher room that already has two bona fide starters in Brian Burns and Abdul Carter.

As a result, Thibodeaux could be on the move, and it could be as soon as the 2026 NFL Draft.

Giants could trade Thibodeaux during 2026 NFL Draft

An NFL executive told SportsBoom's Jason La Canfora that he believes the Giants would trade Thibodeaux if a team offers them a third-round pick.

“I think Thibodeaux is gone if they can get a third for him,” one longtime NFL executive said to La Canfora.

Despite a rough 2025 season, Thibodeaux still possesses a ton of talent and can be a productive pass rusher in the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers could use a boost in their pass-rushing departments, and Thibodeaux would be an electric draft-day addition for any of these three teams.

An edge rusher duo of George Karlaftis and Thibodeaux would give the Chiefs a much better chance of generating consistent pressure on the quarterback in 2026.

Chicago could also look to add Thibodeaux to pair with Montez Sweat. Dayo Odeyingbo is currently slated to be the other starting rusher opposite Sweat for the Bears, and he has tallied just four sacks in the last two seasons.

San Francisco doesn't have much draft capital, but Thibodeaux would address a major need on Raheem Morris's defense and take some pressure off Nick Bosa.

It's looking more and more likely that Thibodeaux will be on the move before the 2026 season kicks off, but only time will tell.
