Giants targeting Super Bowl champion QB after Jaxson Dart injury

The New York Giants are going to be without franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart for a while. He's out with a season-ending injury, of course, even though head coach John Harbaugh says he could return for the postseason, God willing the Giants get that far.

So, what's a team to do? Right now, the Giants and Harbaugh are weighing their options. They'd be wise, of course, to find a veteran quarterback with real experience with Dart out. If they want to make any kind of a playoff push, they need someone experienced and a player who's known how to quickly get comfortable with a team and take over the offense.

Jimmy Garoppolo could be a real option for the Giants

Enter Jimmy Garoppolo. He's certainly a veteran. So far in his NFL career, Garoppolo has played for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Rams. He's currently a free agent, so the Giants wouldn't have to trade something important to get him.

According to NFL insider Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, the Giants are serious about looking at Garoppolo to step in.

"The Jimmy G buzz is picking up," he stated on X, adding that the team's "interest is real."

He also noted that Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network thinks the quarterback would be interested, so it could be mutual interest here.

Garoppolo and Harbaugh would make for a unique fit. Both of them are veterans, and both, in a sense, would be trying to prove themselves at the same time. That could be just what the Giants need in New York during this already rocky season.
