Giants, Steelers, Packers could have interest in released Panthers $22 million starter

The Carolina Panthers have decided to part ways with a defensive lineman who could draw interest from the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.

The Panthers announced on Tuesday that they have released defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson, who was in the final year of his $22 million contract.

Carolina will save a whopping $10.5 million in cap space with the move, which will come in handy as the Panthers have been aggressive in free agency thus far.

Three teams that should have their eyes on Robinson are the Steelers, Packers and Giants.

The Steelers have a solid trio upfront in Cam Heyward, Derrick Harmon and Yahya Black, but their depth is lacking, Heyward is getting up there in age and Harmon battled injury during his rookie campaign.

In Green Bay, the Packers never replaced Kenny Clark after sending him to the Dallas Cowboys in the Micah Parsons trade last year. Making their group thinner, Green Bay traded Colby Wooden to the Indianapolis Colts in the Zaire Franklin trade.

As for the Giants, not only could they use a better running mate for Dexter Lawrence, but New York needs more depth up upfront, also. Robinson previously played for the Giants in 2023.

In 2025, Robinson, who offers some inside/outside versatility, tallied 2.5 sacks, 65 combined tackles and three tackles for loss.

He posted Pro Football Focus grades of 63.8 in the pass-rush and 62.5 in run defense, so he's pretty decent in all areas.
