Giants' Russell Wilson silences the calls for Jaxson Dart in heroic, epic, 400-yard masterpiece

Russell Wilson was going to live and die by the moon ball.

No one throws it deep like Russ. Those high-arcing, magnificent spirals that just soar over the defense were once so brilliant when Wilson played for the Seattle Seahawks. They've had less success since he left the Pacific Northwest for the Denver Broncos, then the Pittsburgh Steelers, and now the New York Giants.

But in one of the most epic throwback performances you'll ever see, Wilson was already having one of the games of his life, but he needed one more dime to deliver a shocking win over the division rival Dallas Cowboys.

On the first play of the pivotal possession, Wilson threw deep to Malik Nabers, but he overthrew him.

On the next play, he tried it again. This time, Russ didn't miss.

The football dropped out of the sky into Nabers' lap.

One of the most brilliant touchdown throws of Wilson's career put the Giants up 37-34 with almost no time remaining.

It was spoiled a bit when Brandon Aubrey drilled a 64-yard field goal to force overtime as time expired on regulation.

But up to that point, Wilson had thrown for 433 yards on 27-for-36 passing with three TDs.

It was almost impossible to believe.

In Week 1, Wilson was 17-for-37. Giants fans were calling for the insertion of rookie QB Jaxson Dart, the No. 25 overall pick in April's NFL Draft.

Russ surely heard the calls. He would never say as much. He's too much of a diplomat, a leader, a classic quarterback filled with cliches.

But this must've felt so, so good.

Russ, at least for a week, was back.

What a game. What a throw. What a moment.
