Heading into Week 6, the New York Giants sit in first place in the NFC East and are looking to build on their lead with a very winnable game against the New Orleans Saints.
While Jaxson Dart is still out, Jameis Winston and this offense have been perfectly suitable for the season so far. But looking at the running back rotation, it appears that some change is on the way, and it's not good for Cam Skattebo.
According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, the Giants are making a change at running back, with Skattebo set to get less work than normal after his fumbling issues nearly cost the Giants the game in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders.
Giants to shake up RB room after Cam Skattebo's fumbling issues
"Expectation is there will be a change to the Giants' RB rotation, per sources," Raanan reports. "Najee Harris is likely to have a larger role, with Cam Skattebo downgraded but still part of the mix after the fumbles."
This is some unexpected news for the Giants, but it isn't a complete surprise. Skattebo has four fumbles this season through five games, and his fumble in overtime of Week 5 against the Commanders might've been the last straw.
With the Giants well within field goal range with a chance to win the game, Skattebo fumbled the ball. The Commanders then marched down the field, and if it weren't for an all-time horrible mistake, the Giants would've lost.

John Harbaugh has seen enough and is making a change that's bad news for Skattebo. The fan-favorite running back will still be involved in the offense, but he's no longer going to be the lead back.
Najee Harris is set to take over the main share of this backfield, though he'll be splitting time with Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy, and Devin Singletary, as all four running backs are set to be active Sunday for the Giants.
While the Giants shaking the RB room up is a bit of a surprise, considering Skattebo's fumbling issues so far this season, it makes sense why the Giants are going away from him, at least for now, until he can be trusted again.
