The San Francisco Giants have suffered a very disappointing season to this point.
It starts with the lackluster play of the club's highest-paid players. That includes Rafael Devers, who was the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade from the Boston Red Sox just over a year ago.
According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, the Giants are already willing to listen to trade offers for the first baseman/designated hitter.
But who would be willing to take on Devers' sizeable contract? That's going to be a tall task for the president of baseball operations, Buster Posey.
"And the truly scary part is that things will only get uglier from here. Devers will turn 30 in October. He's already aged off of third base, and he still has seven years remaining on a contract that runs through 2033," Chris Landers of FanSided wrote Tuesday.
The Giants will be hard-pressed to find a taker of seven more years of Devers, who already appears to be in a decline at the plate.

"Unless he's able to completely turn things around at the plate, it's very hard to envision a world in which San Francisco finds a taker for a deal that's already underwater, unless they give up a ton of value along with it," Landers added. "That's a tough pill to swallow for a team that needs a reset in the worst way."
There may be no easy way for the Giants to offload Devers without eating a substantial amount of his contract.
The harsh truth is, they may be stuck with him for a very long time.
