Following the firing of Brian Daboll by the New York Giants on Monday, there were questions around the future of general manager Joe Schoen. However, the long-term NFL executive will remain with the franchise, with no other coaching staff following Daboll out of the team.
Giants owner John Mara made his feelings about Schoen known on Monday after Daboll's dismissal was made official. The businessman, who has been the president and CEO of the franchise since he acquired it in 2005, believes the general manager has done a great job.
“We feel like Joe has assembled a good young nucleus of talent, and we look forward to its development,” Mara said. “Unfortunately, the results over the past three years have not been what any of us want. We take full responsibility for those results and look forward to the kind of success our fans expect.”•

Giants co-owner Steve Tisch is also in agreement with the decision to part ways with Brian Daboll and keep Joe Schoen at the helm of affairs in the franchise. Tisch noted the decision is bound to help the Giants take the next step despite the complexities involved.
“These are difficult decisions, and John and I do not take them lightly, but we feel like this is the right thing to do at this time and will allow us to move forward,” Tisch said. The Giants believe Joe Schoen has assembled a team good enough to compete
According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the New York Giants front office holds the view that the result under Brian Daboll does not reflect the quality of the team it has. The decision makers believe Joe Schoen has assembled a team good enough to compete in the league.
“The feeling internally, I’m told, is that the Giants believe the talent is better than the results have shown — evident by four loses despite holding 10-point leads," Hughes wrote. "That, plus the Jaxson Dart injury, called forth the change. Agree or disagree, that’s how they currently view the situation."In his last couple of seasons, Joe Schoen has bought a host of young talent that has what it takes to help the team compete. This includes Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, Abdul Carter, Malik Nabers and a host of others. However, this hasn't reflected in the result as the team currently holds a 2-8 record in 2025.
Hughes also made it known that Schoen is highly regarded within the building, and he's in no way on the hot seat. He's said to be leading the charge to find the team's next coach.
