Giants named possible landing spot for $30 million Browns free agent

The New York Giants have made a bunch of moves in free agency thus far, but one significant hole remains.

That hole comes at right guard, where the Giants don't have a sure starter as of now. That's because last year's starter, Greg Van Roten, is a free agent and remains on the open market.

While it's possible New York could just re-sign Van Roten to fill the void, ESPN's Bill Barnwell thinks former Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller could also be a solution for Big Blue.

Here's Barnwell's thoughts on Teller, who Sportrac projects will land a three-year, $30 million deal in free agency.

John Harbaugh has brought plenty of former Ravens to New York, so maybe he could add a former AFC North opponent to the mix, too. Greg Van Roten (2025 starter) and Joshua Ezeudu (reserve) are both free agents, and while the Giants re-signed 2022 first-round pick Evan Neal, he struggled badly at tackle and didn't play a single regular-season snap after moving to guard during the 2025 preseason. Teller would step in at right guard and offer some physicality in the short term protecting for Jaxson Dart.

The Giants have reportedly been interested in signing Teller, so he is indeed a realistic potential addition for New York.

Teller was once considered an elite run-blocker and a good starting guard overall, but he has taken a noticeable dip in his quality of play the past few seasons.

While decline is a fear for the 31-year-old, Teller has also battled injury in that span, so that could explain his issues.

Teller allowed three sacks and 24 total pressures while posting Pro Football Focus grades of 53.1 in pass-blocking and 65.7 in run-blocking in 2025.

Van Roten posted a better pass-blocking mark last season, but Teller was better in the run game, so there shouldn't be much of a fall-off if the latter replaces the former.
