Giants' Malik Nabers reveals reason behind slower-than-expected injury recovery

Concern has been building for New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Nabers saw his 2025 campaign end early due to a torn ACL, but the hope has been that he'll be ready for the start of the 2026 season.

However, after Nabers was spotted wearing a brace and using a crutch months after surgery, serious doubt was cast on that timeline.

His comment on his recovery timeline didn't help, either.

"The target date is when my body feels ready and I can continue to be who I am, and my body feels able to do the things that I was doing before the injury," Nabers said last month. "If my body doesn’t feel right, I won’t be out there."

Thankfully, Nabers provided some optimism recently.

According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Nabers said his rehab has been "phenomenal" and revealed that he also had a full meniscus repair in addition to the ACL injury.

That, Raanan says, explains why his recovery is seemingly going slower than expected.

"He did in fact have a full meniscus repair in addition to ACL surgery in October. That explains the crutch [and] brace he was wearing last month. Typically full meniscus repair does add to recovery timeline," Raanan said.

This should help to ease some of the concerns fans have about his recovery, as we now have a clear explanation for what's going on.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen has said Nabers is trending in the direction of being ready for the start of training camp.

With five-plus months between now and then, it's a realistic goal as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
