Giants lose OC candidate as Davis Webb takes Broncos promotion

A former Giants quarterback who was a candidate for their offensive coordinator job is taking the same position elsewhere.

Davis Webb is staying with the Broncos and getting promoted to offensive coordinator after serving as their offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the 2025 season, the team announced Monday. He began his run with the team as QBs coach in 2023.

The 31-year-old had interviewed for the Ravens, Bills and Raiders head coaching jobs. He didn’t get the first two and withdrew from consideration for the Las Vegas gig that is going to Klint Kubiak.

The Broncos fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi last week despite reaching the AFC Championship game and nearly making the Super Bowl with their backup quarterback playing in their final game.

The Giants took Webb in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft and he returned to the Giants in 2022 after a three-year stint with the Bills. He went right to Sean Payton’s Broncos staff in 2023 after ending his playing career.

John Harbaugh had spoken with Webb, along with another former Giants quarterback, Alex Tanney, regarding the Giants’ offensive coordinator opening.

Jim Bob Cooter, Kliff Kingsbury and Brian Callahan have also interviewed.

The Giants were hoping to land Todd Monken, who was Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator the last three seasons in Baltimore, but Monken got hired as the Browns head coach last week.
