Giants listed among potential trade fits for pair of Rays sluggers

The San Francisco Giants are in a position to make some changes this offseason. New president of baseball operations and franchise legend Buster Posey could decide to spend some money.

But that isn't the only way the Giants can improve this winter. They may ultimately look at the trade market as well.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller listed Tampa Bay Rays sluggers Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe as potential trade chips this offseason and had San Francisco as a team that might show some interest.

"Unloading Lowe ($10.5M in 2025 with an $11.5M club option or $500k buyout for 2026) and/or Díaz ($10M in 2025 with a $12M club option or no buyout for 2026) isn't quite the sure thing for Tampa Bay that it was last year with Tyler Glasnow's $25M salary, but you just know the Rays are at least asking other teams if there's any interest in their highest-priced assets," Miller wrote.

"Seattle would surely make an offer. The Mets, Dodgers and Giants would all be more than a little interested."

Diaz slashed .281/.341/.414 with 14 home runs, 65 RBI and a 1.6 bWAR during the regular season, while Lowe slashed .244/.311/.473 with 21 homers, 58 RBI and a 2.4 bWAR.

Both sluggers could significantly boost the Giants lineup and still leave some room for them to pursue a big-ticket free agent such as Juan Soto, though they would have to give the Rays some Major League ready position players and other prospects to make this deal work.

The Giants finished 80-82 and missed the postseason, but if they make this move and a few more tweaks, they could find themselves back in the mix for a playoff spot.

Time will tell if the Giants make an offer.
