The San Francisco Giants have found themselves in the picture for a lot of big name free agents in recent years.
They haven't gotten a lot of those deals done, though.
The Willy Adames signing is the big one that did get over the finish line, but mostly, the Giants wind up just on the outside looking in.
They're expected to get another chance this offseason, with the No. 1 free agent in all of baseball.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand lists the Giants as one of the three best fits for Kyle Tucker, along with his former team, the Cubs, and the rival Dodgers.
"Tucker started his first season with the Cubs on a tear, hitting 17 home runs with 52 RBIs, 20 stolen bases and a .931 OPS through June," Feinsand writes. "A right hand fracture might have contributed to Tucker’s step back offensively in July and August, but he remains the best and most well-rounded player on the free-agent market this winter, having been worth at least 4.0 fWAR in every year since 2021."

Tucker's late struggles could knock his dollar figure down just a bit.
But there's really no number that would feel too big. Will Tucker command $300 million? $400 million? More?
The more teams in the picture, the higher the bidding might get.
The Giants could certainly use a guy like Tucker to add to the heart of their lineup with Adames and Rafael Devers.
The overwhelming disappointment of the 2025 season could play a part, too. Buster Posey and the front office could feel it's time to make a giant splash.
There wouldn't be a bigger splash this offseason than Tucker.
