Giants linked to 2 of 3 best hitters available at MLB trade deadline

5 hours ago 1

The San Francisco Giants have been horrific with runners in scoring position.

If they want to make a playoff push, they probably need some kind of hitting upgrade.

ESPN has linked them to two of the top-three hitters that will potentially be available in deals before the MLB trade deadline.

Those hitters? Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez and Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran.

Suarez is given a 90% chance of being traded by the ESPN rankings, but has six teams listed as best trade fits, including the Giants.

Duran's chances of being traded are set at 25%, and the Giants are also one of six teams listed as best fit there.

So this feels more like a needle in a haystack possibility than anything. The Giants probably wouldn't be considered favorites to get either of those guys.

San Francisco already made its big splash move to get Rafael Devers, who has barely batted above the Mendoza Line since his arrival.

The Giants might, more than anything, need to just turn things around themselves.
