While the San Francisco Giants were a consistent .500 team over the last few years, that's not the case this season. With each passing series, they seem to dig themselves into an even deeper hole.
They enter Monday's games with a 29-43 record, which puts them in fourth place in the National League West. They are already 16 games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers, and that may be an impossible gap to recover from.
The pitching staff has not performed as well as the front office has hoped, and the limited number of runs scored and slugging percentage sit way too low to play at a pitcher-friendly field like Oracle Park.

Giants fans won't like seeing where their team sits in latest power rankings
The Giants did not help themselves at all during their two series last week. They lost the three-game series against the Washington Nationals, 1-2. But to be fair, the Nats have been rolling this season.
Then, the Giants took on the Chicago Cubs, where they fell in the series 1-2 as well.
That led to a 2-4 week, and Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter had no choice but to bump the team from No. 28 to No. 30 in his latest power rankings.
"The Giants have scored three or fewer runs in nine of their last 13 games so far in June, while piling up 46 runs in the other four games as they remain one of baseball's most confounding teams. Rookie Bryce Eldridge went 10-for-22 with two doubles, three home runs and eight RBI last week, and he now has a .953 OPS in 121 plate appearances."
Not all hope is lost, though. For fans looking for something positive, rookie slugger Bryce Eldridge has found his groove at the plate. Now, if he and Matt Chapman could get a little help, they could slowly start to turn this thing around.
