It's safe to say the season has not turned out the way the San Francisco Giants had hoped.
Under first-year manager Tony Vitello, the NL West club has the second-worst record in the National League at 27-39.
San Francisco is not totally out of the race, but it's starting to become more probable by the day that it doesn't have an extensive winning streak coming anytime soon.
Naturally, that would make the Giants clear sellers at this year's trade deadline. There could be notable big names on the move.
But would they trade away their ace starting pitcher?
"[Logan] Webb getting traded out of San Francisco would be shocking. Then again, it was shocking when San Francisco traded for Rafael Devers and traded away Patrick Bailey," wrote Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller. "And the Giants are almost certainly headed for a fire sale."
Webb, one of the more consistent and reliable starters in the Majors when healthy, has two years remaining on the five-year, $90 million deal he signed with the Giants. Because of that, the Giants would ask a hefty trade package in return for the 29-year-old two-time All-Star.

Any team that acquires him would be receiving a yearly Cy Young Award candidate who has thrown over 200 innings in each of the previous three years.
But would the Giants consider making this drastic a move? The short answer is probably not.
There's no telling what the roster will look like heading into next season, and losing two years of Webb while banking on prospects to pan out is too risky a deal to make.
