The San Francisco Giants should be in full sell mode at the trade deadline.
All indications point to that being the case for president of baseball operations Buster Posey.
Any Giants player with an expiring contract should be made available. Perhaps the most attractive name on the roster in that category is second baseman Luis Arraez.
The three-time batting champion has no reason to stay with San Francisco. Several clubs around the Majors will be looking for a leadoff hitter of his quality.
The only problem is, there are no other leadoff hitters quite like Arraez. ESPN's David Schoenfield wrote Thursday that an AL West club is the perfect fit for the 29-year-old, who has dramatically improved his defense at second base.
"The [Texas] Rangers have started six different players at second base, with light-hitting journeyman Nicky Lopez getting the starts there of late, so Arraez is an obvious upgrade," Schoenfield wrote.
"They've also been hitting Joc Pederson leadoff, which isn't the worst idea, but they could slide Arraez into that role and move Pederson down into an RBI position."
Schoenfield labeled the Rangers as the "perfect" landing spot for Arraez.
This season, the left-handed hitter is batting .326/.361/.463 with four home runs, 32 RBIs, and a .824 OPS.
In 358 plate apperances, Arraez has walked 19 times and struck out 13 times. Yes, you read that correctly.

Are the Rangers the top contender in the AL? No, but the AL West is very winnable this year.
There's no reason they shouldn't make a push for a player like Arraez.
