With how badly the 2026 season has gone for the San Francisco Giants, it should come as no surprise that the Giants are slated to be sellers this year.
There is bound to be plenty of interest in the Giants players, with options for both the lineup and the pitching staff likely to be available in a trade. But there is one hitter who's more likely than all the others to be traded.
According to MLB insider Robert Murray of Fansided.com, the Giants are likely to trade $12 million veteran journeyman infielder Luis Arraez this season.
Giants likely to trade Luis Arraez
"But again, like (Robbie) Ray, Arraez won't cost any team their top prospects," Murray writes. Which makes these two the likeliest Giants players to head elsewhere ahead of the August 3 trade deadline - unless they drastically turn their season around."
It's hard to believe that this Gaints team will be able to right the ship in time not to sell some players, so Arraez being on the move this season seems to be a likely outcome.
He's on a one-year, $12 million contract. Expiring veterans make for realistic trade assets, and Arraez would be a great one for the Giants.
Even though he won't bring back a top prospect or two, the return should be decent for Arraez, as he's been a great defensive second baseman this season, seemingly out of nowhere.

But it's not just that he's playing some good defense at second base; Arraez is still hitting the ball very well this season.
He has a .323 batting average with a .799 OPS this season. He's not a power hitter, but he's still putting up good offensive numbers. One of the more impressive statistics favoring Arraez this season is that he has 15 walks to just 10 strikeouts.
The $12 million Giants infielder is sure to draw interest in the trade market this season, and Murray's report indicates that, like Robbie Ray, Arraez is a likely trade candidate for the Giants this season.
