Ty Simpson served as the starting quarterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide this season. After spending the past three seasons as a backup option on the depth chart, he helped the program qualify for the 12-team playoffs under coach Kalen DeBoer.
The Crimson Tide won in the first round against Oklahoma and were paired to go against the undefeated Big Ten champions, the Indiana Hoosiers, in the Rose Bowl quarterfinal game. However, Ty Simpson struggled heavily to showcase any type of productivity against Curt Cignetti's team.
In the end, Alabama suffered a humiliating 38-3 loss to the Hoosiers, bringing an end to their hopes of competing for the national championship. After the game, fans on social media trolled Simpson and heavily criticized him for his lackluster performance.

Ty Simpson is the worst Alabama QB I’ve seen in my lifetime.
Ty Simpson has no business going to the NFL next year. He’s too uncomfortable early in games.
Against Indiana, Simpson completed just 12 of 16 passes for 67 yards and no touchdowns. He was then benched for Austin Mack in the second half. Alabama reporter Mike Rodak later revealed that the quarterback fractured his rib, which resulted in his benching.
"Ty Simpson said he fractured his rib on the hit that caused the fumble. X-rays revealed the fracture at halftime," Rodak tweeted. In four seasons with the Crimson Tide, Simpson tallied 3,881 yards and 28 TDs passing.
Alabama TE Josh Cuevas shares a message for Ty Simpson after his disappointing performance against Indiana
Josh Cuevas transferred to play for Alabama in 2024. Two years ago, he shared the field with Jalen Milroe, recording 218 yards and a touchdown. This season, he was a part of the offense led by Ty Simpson.
After Thursday's Rose Bowl quarterfinal loss to Indiana, Cuevas shared a message for his quarterback.
"I'm proud of you man," Cuevas said. "Your fight, I mean, I look up to you man as a leader. You know, being my QB1 all the way throughout like, my job was to be really the glue for the team and kinda his safety blanket. "So Ty and I have been close this entire season. Even from last season too. But I think I got to see him grow into the man he is today, into the quarterback he is today, and I'm just extremely proud of him."Simpson has one more year of eligibility remaining. He can either declare for the 2026 NFL draft or decide to return to play out the final year of his collegiate campaign.
