Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green shared his thoughts on Brian Daboll's firing. The New York Giants released the coach on Monday amid a 2-8 season and following another fourth-quarter collapse against the Chicago Bears.

Mike Kafka was named interim head coach, while the Giants look for consistency for the rest of the season. During Thursday's episode of his "Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football?" show with NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the four-time NBA champion explained what was the final mistake that led to Daboll's firing.

"He's not a very good football coach," Green said. "You guys have gotten me in trouble with the name calling, so I'm not going to name call anyone I knew when they were on the two-yard line, three-yard line, whatever, half-yard line, and he kicked for three and not went for the touchdown.

"That was his job. That was the end. No one wants their franchise being coached by the guy who's playing not to lose... You're playing not to lose, get out the door. That's it. It's over. So well deserved."

During three and a half seasons, Brian Daboll led the Giants to a 20-40-1 record. He won the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year award after leading the "Big Blue" to the postseason in his first campaign.

After three years with Daniel Jones as his starting quarterback, Daboll hit the reset button in April, selecting Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 overall pick from Ole Miss. The rookie playmaker has delighted fans with his performances, but they haven't translated into wins.

Dan Orlovsky believes the Giants made a mistake by firing Brian Daboll

Former Detroit Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky shared his thoughts on Brian Daboll's firing. The ESPN analyst put the Giants' defense under the spotlight for crumbling late in multiple games.

“The fact they had built these leads should warrant something,” Orlovsky said on Monday. “The reality is that this defense, that’s got a gajillion dollars of early draft picks, had 10-point fourth-quarter leads four different times this year, and they couldn’t find ways to secure the lead either. “So as much as we want to say Daboll didn’t get it done, a lot of the high-prize defensive talent didn’t get it done as well. I think Brian Daboll and Jaxson Dart should have stayed together for at least another year.”

Several coaches have been mentioned as candidates, including Bill Belichick and Jon Gruden.
