George Russell took a break from the high-octane world of motorsport to enjoy tennis action at Roland Garros on Sunday, June 8. The 27-year-old was spotted alongside his girlfriend, Carmen Mundt, during the 2025 French Open men's singles final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in Paris.

The Formula 1 star and his partner were seen enjoying the eclectic atmosphere at Court Philippe-Chatrier as the two of tennis' top-ranked stars battled it out for the Grand Slam crown. The Mercedes driver was dressed in a stylish smart-casual outfit, with a suit jacket to match, while his partner opted for a more relaxed white dress.

George Russell, who is known for his admiration for tennis, has on previous occasions attended several tennis events, including the 2024 Wimbledon, where he met with Novak Djokovic, among others. The British driver has often used such events—be it ATP tournaments or Grand Slams—to spend time away from the race track.

Russell, alongside his partner, was among the slew of stars and celebrities from other sports who graced the French Open event. Several other sports icons, including former basketball duo Dirk Nowitzki and Tony Parker, were also in attendance.

The 2025 Roland-Garros final indeed lived up to the hype, as not only was it the longest final in the storied history of the sport—lasting over five hours and 25 minutes—it also witnessed a staggering comeback from Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard recovered from a two-set deficit to clinch his fifth major title on the night.

George Russell reacted online following the dramatic conclusion of the Roland-Garros final. The former Williams Racing driver took to social media to share his thoughts on the intense showdown.

The three-time F1 race winner, who added the glamour of Formula 1 to the clay court spectacle, witnessed the two in-form players battle it out for the Musketeers' Cup. Taking to his Instagram following the conclusion of the event, he wrote:

“What an insane match of tennis at Roland Garros!! Both worthy winners!! 👏 Congratulations @carlitosalcarazz & @janniksin on a crazy match 🎾🇫🇷”

The title triumph for Carlos Alcaraz was his second at Court Philippe-Chatrier and his second consecutive win, following his victory in Paris last season. The World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, on his part, is yet to taste title success at Roland Garros.

Shifting the focus to racing, George Russell will be aiming for an impressive outing at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. The British driver has experienced a slight dip in form during the last three races of the Formula 1 season.

Russell recorded a seventh-place finish at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, failed to score any points and received a drive-through penalty in Monaco, and managed a fourth-place finish during the Spanish GP weekend. These results, however, mark a significant drop from the form he had shown in the earlier part of the season.

The Mercedes driver will now shift his focus to the event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve—a race where he finished on the podium in 2024—with hopes of achieving a better result.
