In a recent interview with Variety on December 30, 2025, George Clooney confirmed that Ocean's 14 is moving forward at Warner Bros. The film will reunite the original stars, including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, and Don Cheadle. Clooney also shared that the script is finished.

The story will be a bit different this time. Instead of just doing another high-tech robbery, the movie will focus on the characters as they get older. Clooney jokingly compared the script's quality to something like Going in Style. He also shared that the next Ocean's movie production will likely begin in late 2026.

George Clooney shared several concrete details regarding the long-awaited return of the franchise. While fans have speculated about a reboot for years, Clooney confirmed that the project, currently referred to as Ocean’s 14, is moving forward with a clear creative vision and a high-profile production team.

The most significant production update is the shift in the director's chair. While Steven Soderbergh directed the original trilogy, Clooney confirmed that Edward Berger is in talks to take the helm. Berger is widely acclaimed for his work on the Oscar-winning All Quiet on the Western Front and the thriller Conclave.

He compared the film's tone to the 1979 classic Going in Style, suggesting that the heist will rely more on the characters' decades of experience and wisdom rather than youthful agility. The Jay Kelly star stated:

“There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me.”

The project is being treated as a direct sequel to Ocean’s Thirteen, rather than a total reboot. Regarding the timeline, Clooney mentioned that the goal is to begin production in 2026. The delay in filming is primarily due to the complex aligning the schedules of its A-list ensemble.

The Ocean’s franchise began in 1960 with Ocean's 11, starring Frank Sinatra. However, the modern version started in 2001 with the remake directed by Steven Soderbergh, which introduced the iconic lead trio: George Clooney playing the mastermind Danny Ocean, Brad Pitt as his right-hand man Rusty Ryan, and Matt Damon as the talented pickpocket Linus Caldwell.

The success of the trilogy was built on the chemistry between these leads and a bench of talented supporting actors who appeared across all three films. Following the original, the story continued with Ocean's Twelve in 2004 and concluded the main trilogy with Ocean's Thirteen in 2007. More than a decade later, the franchise expanded with Ocean's 8 (2018), a spin-off that shifted the focus to an all-female crew of experts.
