"Generic hero shooter": MoistCr1TiKaL says Highguard goes "similar vibe" to Concord

The Game Awards 2025 announced a new PvP hero shooter titled Highguard. Interestingly, this was the final reveal of the event, a slot usually reserved for the most exciting announcements. The trailer on YouTube and social media was flooded with negative comments, and even popular creators also joined the criticism, questioning why Highguard was chosen as the closing reveal for such a major show.

Shortly after the reveal, MoistCr1TiKaL uploaded a video on YouTube reacting to Highguard and shared his views. He said he did not understand why The Game Awards would save this game for the final slot:

"I just really don't understand why they (The Game Awards) would save this game (Highguard) as their final reveal, which is like, always the most important reveal because it is the one that sticks with the viewers the longest. It's usually reserved for the f***kin, you know... Gushing Grannies. Having a generic hero shooter be in that place feels really odd."

He described Highguard as a generic hero shooter and said it felt strange to place it in such an important position. MoistCr1TiKaL also acknowledged that fans were already clowning on the game and added that it did not look particularly exciting. He went on to compare it to the failure of Concord:

"It's not the most exciting-looking game. It's not going to put you on the edge of your seat there, and it does give me a similar vibe to Concord, when that was revealed, unfortunately."

That comparison quickly caught attention because Concord is often considered one of the biggest live service failures in gaming history. Sony spent around $400 million on the development, but it did not recover even a fraction of that amount. The game peaked at only around 700 players on Steam and was shut down within months of its release.

Asmongold trolls Highguard by calling it “Concord 2”

As soon as the Highguard trailer was shared across social media, fans were quick to react to it. Popular Twitch Streamer Asmongol commented on the official reveal post on X, calling Highguard a Concord sequel:

"Is this Concord 2?"

The comment gained over 10,000 likes on X, significantly more than the original post by the developers themself. Moreover, third-party extensions show that the official trailer on The Game Awards YouTube channel currently sits at around 9,500 dislikes and just over 900 likes. Do note that these numbers come from a third-party source and only provide rough estimates.
