Garrett Wilson contract details: Jets WR signs record-setting 4-year extension

4 hours ago 1

The Jets have ensured that star wide receiver Garrett Wilson will be around for the foreseeable future. New York inked Wilson to a massive four-year, $130 million deal on Monday, keeping the former Rookie of the Year in town for the start of the Justin Fields era and beyond.

The wide receiver's career has been tumultuous through his first three seasons. New York had a revolving door under center his first year and then was forced into another bad quarterback situation in 2023 after Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1.

Even though he had eight different quarterbacks in his first three seasons, he has still performed at a high caliber, showing he was worth the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Here is more on the contract that Wilson signed.

Garrett Wilson contract details

Wilson had his fifth-year option picked up by the Jets, with an extension looming. He was already under contract through the 2026 season, and the extension will take effect after his fifth-year option. As a result, he is now tied to New York through the 2030 season. Wilson's four-year, $130 million contract includes a whopping $90 million guaranteed.

The wide receiver's contract helped him make history. It is the first time a wide receiver's contract will average over $31 million in annual value after playing in only three seasons. Part of that is because of contracts in this day of the NFL being larger than ever, but he has shown that he is worth it with the start to his career.

The extension is also the fifth-highest average value ever for a wide receiver, per Adam Schefter
