In a weekend full of wild finishes across the country in high school football playoff games, Notre Dame commit Noah Grubbs may have had the wildest of all.
Grubbs and his Lake Mary team squared off against Vero Beach Saturday at FIU's Pitbull Stadium for the Florida Class 7A state championship game. After Grubbs threw an interception with just over a minute left and trailing 27-19, Vero Beach appeared headed for an undefeated season and its first state title since 1981.
Not so fast my friends!

With pouring down rain and not wanting to risk a bad turnover deep it in its own territory, Vero Beach opted to take three kneel downs followed by Florida State commit Efrem White running 19 yards backwards and out of his own end zone for an intentional safety.
That made it 27-21 with just 12 seconds left. What followed was absolute pandemonium.
Lake Mary returned the ensuing free kick to the Vero Beach 42-yard yard line to set up one final prayer.
Unbelievable doesn’t begin to describe it. With the clock at zero and hope fading, Notre Dame commit Noah Grubbs heaved a desperate Hail Mary—and somehow, impossibly, it connected. FIU signee Barrett Schulz hauled in the heave from Grubbs and looked to be stopped short before handing it off to Tavarius Brundidge Jr. who ran in the final four yards for the tying score. Lucas Parker connected on the go-ahead PAT to complete one of the most shocking state championship games you'll ever see.
