In a landmark deal in animation history, Disney has reportedly agreed to pay the main voice cast of the Frozen franchise $60 million each to return for both Frozen 3 and Frozen 4, according to a report from The Wrap. The massive package, which includes upfront fees and box office bonuses, goes to Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), and Josh Gad (Olaf).
The $60 million package deal is a dramatic increase from the $15 million, which each star received for Frozen 2. Notably, all three main actors will continue to be paid equally for their roles in the subsequent films. Frozen 3, which is set to release in November 2027, will be helmed by Jennifer Lee, who co-directed and co-wrote the previous two films in the animated saga.

Scheduled for a holiday release on November 24, 2027, Frozen 3 is positioned to extend Disney's decades-long history of Thanksgiving box office dominance. Following the pattern of its predecessors, both of which became billion-dollar global hits, the film is expected to leverage the highly lucrative five-day holiday weekend.
Producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who collaborated on the earlier movies, are reportedly joining director Lee for the next films in the animated franchise.
The Frozen franchise began with the 2013 release from Walt Disney Animation Studios, loosely adapting Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen. Director Jennifer Lee shifted the narrative focus from romantic love to the deep, complex bond between royal sisters, Elsa and Anna, which set the stage for one of Disney's most successful eras.
Notably, the franchise's box office performance has been nothing short of spectacular. The original film, Frozen, was a massive critical and commercial success, grossing $1.28 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing animated film of its time.
Its 2019 sequel, Frozen 2, surpassed its predecessor by earning an astonishing $1.45 billion, making it one of the highest-grossing animated films ever. Combined, the two mainline films have brought in over $2.7 billion globally.
Beyond cinema, Frozen created an enduring cultural impact across various media. The iconic power ballad Let It Go became a worldwide anthem, driving a merchandising bonanza that generated billions in revenue from consumer products, costumes, and toys.
The franchise has since expanded into a critically and commercially successful Broadway musical adaptation and inspired immersive theme park lands, such as the new World of Frozen, cementing its status as an animation powerhouse.
The upcoming sequel in the franchise, Frozen 3, was originally shceduled release on November 25, 2026. However, during the 2024 D23 Expo, Disney Animation announced it was rescheduled to November 24, 2027. The film's synopsis and other details are yet to be revealed by the studio.
