FOX analyst says Brandon Aiyuk is where he is because of his own choices

Brandon Aiyuk's social media campaign against the San Francisco 49ers picked up another layer on Tuesday when the receiver posted an Instagram video calling the organization "stupid" for voiding his contract guarantees.

FOX Sports analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth had seen enough of it.

"Seriously, how dumb is Aiyuk?" Schlereth said. "He put out on his social media platform that the 49ers are just mad. I'm paraphrasing, 'they just stupid because they already gave me $50 million.' Who in their right mind would put that out there on social media when you're trying to find another team that's vying for your services? I don't need that turd on my team."

He continued: "He ended up getting paid, quit showing up to rehab, ended up taking $50 million dollars and then he's calling the team that gave him $50 million dollars st---d for giving him $50 million dollars. You think everybody is gonna lineup and trade for you now?"

In a separate segment, Schlereth expanded further:

"You are exactly where you are because of the sh--ty decisions that you've made," Schlereth said. "You are not a victim. It is not anybody else's fault. The San Francisco 49ers didn't conspire against you to ruin your career. You are where you are because of your stupidity. Just admit it, embrace it, and move forward with it."

What Aiyuk actually said and what the 49ers' position remains

Aiyuk's Tuesday Instagram video took direct aim at San Francisco.

"You want to know why they really mad though? They m-d because they st---d. They dumb. They mad they paid me $50 million in eight months and then voided my guarantees," Aiyuk said.

The 49ers voided the guaranteed money in Aiyuk's deal for 2026 after he stopped attending team rehabilitation sessions and disengaged from communication with the organization following his ACL tear in October 2024.

He also posted a photo this week wearing a Washington Commanders hat, the team quarterbacked by Jayden Daniels, his former Arizona State teammate.

In 2023, Aiyuk was one of the NFL's best receivers, catching 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. That version of him would have teams lining up, the entire point is weather the current one does.

An arrest warrant, a voided contract, and two weeks of social media attacks against the team holding his rights is not the negotiating strategy that typically would unlocks trade interest.

As things stand, the leverage Aiyuk thinks he's creating with the posts may be working in the opposite direction, who knows.
